Hi! We built MulchCalc to help you figure out how much mulch, gravel, or topsoil you need for your yard. We keep things simple, and that includes how we handle your information. Here's what you need to know.
What Information We Collect
We collect very little, and only if you choose to give it to us:
- Email addresses — Only if you use the "Email My Results" form to send yourself a copy of your calculations. That's it. We don't ask for your name, address, phone number, or anything else.
- No accounts, no passwords — You don't need to create an account to use MulchCalc. There's nothing to sign up for and no passwords to remember.
- No payment information — This site is completely free. We never collect credit card numbers or any payment details because we don't sell anything.
How We Use Your Email
If you give us your email address, here's what we do with it:
- Send you your results — We'll email you the calculation you requested. That's the main reason you gave it to us.
- Optional seasonal tips — If you check the box to opt in, we might send you occasional yard care tips (like "spring is a good time to refresh your mulch"). These are rare and only if you asked for them.
- Never sold or shared — We will never sell your email to anyone or share it with third parties for marketing purposes. Your email stays with us.
- Unsubscribe anytime — If you change your mind, just email us at hello@mulchcalc.com and we'll remove you immediately.
Cookies and Tracking
Like most websites, we use some tools to understand how people use the site. Here's what's running:
- Google Analytics — This tells us things like how many people visit the site, which pages they look at, how long they stay, and their general location (like "someone from California"). It uses cookies to track this information. We use this data to improve the site and make it more helpful.
- Google AdSense — We display ads on the site to help cover hosting costs. Google AdSense uses cookies to show ads that might be relevant to you based on your browsing activity across the web. You can control ad personalization at adssettings.google.com.
Affiliate Links
We include links to products at stores like Amazon, Home Depot, and Lowe's. Here's how that works:
- Affiliate programs — Some of our product links are affiliate links, meaning if you click through and buy something, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps keep the site free.
- Our recommendations are honest — We don't let affiliate relationships affect what we show you. The bag sizes and products we reference are based on what's actually sold at major retailers, not what pays us the most.

We use a few outside services to run this site. Each has its own privacy policy:

- Email storage — If you submit your email address, we store it securely. We don't share it with anyone outside of MulchCalc.
- Calculator data — The calculator itself doesn't store anything on our servers. All your measurements and calculations happen in your browser, on your device. We never see them.
Children's Privacy
MulchCalc is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect any information from kids. If you're a parent and you think your child has given us their information, please contact us at hello@mulchcalc.com and we'll delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time as we add new features or if laws change. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If you keep using MulchCalc after we make changes, that means you're okay with the updated policy.
